The rape scene is used by some Hollywood producers to achieve various motives and points in the movies. Today we are going to discuss the impact that these roles have on the entertainment industry, the media and the public in general.
As I mentioned above there are different reasons that certain producers and directors will look to use a rape scene in Hollywood, in other words we can say that different producers use it for different motives. The most common cause that we see one up on the big screen is for shock value. The topic is seen as such a touchy subject that whenever this is done up on the big screen in front of millions it will generate buzz and as they say there is no such thing as bad publicity. A good portion of these actions in movies are to either set up a revenge storyline or drive home the point that somebody is a bad guy and the other is a victim.
I think the media has a crucial part when it comes to the rape scene in Hollywood because of the hype. Whenever a big film comes out with this kind of content then the news media will be all over it discussing it on the nightly news and in the papers. How many people would’ve heard about Dakota Fanning’s project movie Hound Dog if not for the highly controversial rape scene?
Then you have the public out there that whether they want to or not are exposed to the occasional rape scene in Hollywood projects. There are people that feel they are violent and unwarranted and then those that feel at times the make the movie work. Then you have the small percentage that finds them a turn on because deep down a growing percentage of both men and women have fantasies on the topic. There was a study done a few years ago that showed one out of three men and one out of four women had fantasized more in rape or forced sex than normal sex in movies.
